Mayor needs 'a far more ambitious plan' to tackle air pollution in London, says Murad Qureshi AM

Commenting on the first high pollution forecast issued by the Mayor of London, Labour’s London Assembly Environment Spokesperson Murad Qureshi AM said:

“After years of complacency, it’s great that the Mayor is finally fulfilling his obligation to make Londoners aware of dangerous air pollution levels. However, what we need are tangible actions from Boris Johnson to address this deeply worrying issue.

“Simply making an announcement does nothing to resolve the underlying problem of toxic air. With 7,500 Londoners dying prematurely every year as a result of air pollution, we need a far more ambitious plan from the Mayor if we are to prevent more lives being put at risk.”
