Rise in Winter Deaths "a stark wakeup call on the fuel poverty challenge in London" - Murad Qureshi AM

Commenting on the serious rise in excess winter deaths, Labour London Assembly Environment Spokesperson, Murad Qureshi AM, said:

“With excess winter deaths more than doubling last winter, it is a stark wakeup call on the scale of the fuel poverty challenge we face in London.

“Whilst the causes behind the sharp increase remain uncertain, what is crystal clear is that we desperately need the Mayor to develop a fuel poverty strategy for the capital. We need to know exactly what has driven these figures so high and we need Boris Johnson to urgently set out a detailed plan to end the scourge of cold homes. The time to act is now.”
