Tom Copley AM responds to Mayor's Decent Homes funding announcement

Responding to the Mayor of London’s Decent Homes funding announcement London Assembly Labour Group Housing Spokesperson Tom Copley AM said:

“For thousands of families living in aging accommodation work to bring council homes up to a decent standard is vitally important. I am regularly contacted by constituents with complaints about the state of their council properties and whilst I support steps to improve the standards of London’s Council homes, this ‘new’ initiative by the Mayor is nothing of the sort.

“Not only was this funding announced over a year ago, after this year the Mayor’s budget for Decent Homes work will plummet to zero, with no funding allocated for 2016/17. Instead of trying to dress up old funding announcements as news, the Mayor should be working to fix the fact that the following year he hasn’t budgeted a single penny for Decent Homes work. This is yet another example of the empty legacy Boris Johnson is set to leave for Londoners.”
