Responding to Transport for London’s redevelopment plans for their 55 Broadway offices, London Assembly Labour Group Housing Spokesperson Tom Copley AM said:
"The Mayor and Transport for London need to go back and look again at the weighting they are giving to affordable housing on the Broadway development. Whilst we must seek best value for the taxpayer, this shouldn’t mean average people are priced out of the market. With 78% of the homes on this development not affordable that is that will happen.
“There is a growing housing crisis in London, and not at the superrich end of the scale. The Mayor should be doing all he can to ensure that this development includes the highest proportion possible of affordable housing. That means truly affordable, not the Mayor’s 80% of market rent level which is hardly affordable to anyone.”
