Responding to the announcement that 24 hour tube services will begin on the 12th September 2015, London Assembly Labour Group Transport Spokesperson, Val Shawcross AM, said:
"The introduction of night tube services will be a great leap forward for Londoners. Not only will it make life easier for those wanting to enjoy the capital at night, it will have a transformative effect on London's night-time economy boosting trade and providing new jobs.
"Whilst I fully support night-time tube services it is wrong of the Mayor to couple the move with plans to cut hundreds of tube station staff. At night more than ever passengers need to know their stations are safe and fully staffed, yet from January there will be hundreds fewer staff at London's tube stations as a result of Boris Johnson’s cuts."
